GRST 101 Beginning German I

Part 1 of the Introduction to German language and culture. Through flipped-classroom model and communicative approaches, students develop basic proficiency in German speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students learn about critical concerns connecting Germany and the globe. Through short texts, interactive activities, experiments, and interviews, students learn about and discuss topics like nutrition and cuisine, fashion, family, and fitness. The language of instruction is German and corresponds to standard proficiency guidelines for "novice low-high" (A1) language learners.
