The course provides an overview of Spanish as used in law and business, utilizing conversation,composition, and grammar to give students familiarity with institutional practices and systems, cultural frameworks, and relevant lexicons. Specific topics will include different types of legal systems and business cultures; legal and commercial correspondence; organizational hierarchies and professional credentials; ethical problems and principles; the roles of translators and interpreters; and case studies and contemporary developments from Latin America, the Latinx world, and Spain. The course is designed to equip students with knowledge, tools, and principles to help them successfully engage in further study and/or practical involvement in law or business across the region.
