In this course you will learn social science theories through which you will analyze hip-hop culture and the institutional structures and forces that influence it; as well as how hip-hop has influenced the world. This course includes an examination of the origin, growth, and current state of hip-hop culture through a sociological lens. Through a rigorous analysis of hip-hop, you will be challenged to think critically and sociologically about this culture and its place in society while developing a clearer understanding of its history and significance.
