An advanced study of transition metal chemistry with emphasis on molecular symmetry, electronic structure, spectroscopy, coordination chemistry, organometallics, and catalysis. The course introduces students to new ways of understanding molecular structure, bonding, and reactivity while integrating concepts from across the chemistry curriculum.
The integrated laboratory features research-style inorganic synthesis, spectroscopic and electrochemical characterization, and catalytic transformations designed to develop independent experimental and analytical skills.
Open to juniors and seniors.
