Mathematics, statistics, and quantitative reasoning are infused into many other disciplines. In this topic-based course, students will explore diverse texts that illuminate the philosophical, historical, cultural, and ethical dimensions of mathematical concepts and statistical principles. Throughout the semester, students will examine connections between mathematics and statistics and a variety of other liberal arts disciplines. Emphasis will be placed on discussion and reflection, encouraging students to articulate their insights and make connections between mathematical concepts and material they have learned in other courses. The prerequisites for the course (if any) will depend on the topic/readings.
