The goal of this class is to expose you to arguments that great thinkers have made about hot-button issues relevant to the philosophical study of medical ethics. First, we will examine arguments about beginning-of-life issues, such as the ethics of procreation, abortion, and embryo disposal. Then, we’ll discuss the ethics of various policies that are relevant to medical ethics. And finally, we’ll discuss the ethical status of euthanasia––both voluntary and involuntary euthanasia.
