In this project-based course, students assume the role of equity research analysts and conduct an in-depth study of a publicly traded company. The course develops skills in industry and competitive analysis, financial statement analysis and forecasting, valuation (including discounted cash flow and relative valuation methods), risk assessment, and the construction of a clear investment thesis. Students build detailed Excel models, write a professional research report supporting a buy, sell, or hold recommendation, and present and defend their conclusions. Emphasis is placed on the quality of analysis, professional communication, and the ethical standards expected of research analysts. Team-based work and project management are central to the course.
