This course introduces students to the art of Black storytelling through oral histories and provide them the opportunities to collect oral history interviews and photographs from South Memphis residents as part of the Mellon Funded Neighborhood Narratives project. The first half of the course introduces students to oral histories as a method of Black cultural preservation and introduces them to the history of Black Memphis.
