Fall
4

Students will learn communication theory as they analyze the relationship between sport, activism, and media in the United States. Students will develop skills as critical researchers and writers as they study the entanglement of athletic activism with media in both historical and contemporary American culture. Students will examine both the rhetorical limits and possibilities of sport narratives in general, and discourse surrounding activist athletes in particular, as vehicles for social change.
