This course is a critical introduction to the development of public policy related to gender in the U.S. Topics include discrimination and harassment protections, parental leave, and reproductive technologies and justice. We will consider how other dimensions of power, including race, class, and sexuality intersect with the governance of gender. The final portion of the course will consist of student-led research and presentation of case studies of U.S. state or federal gender-related public policies, comparing them with other states and/or countries’ policies.
