Building on the interdisciplinary Search sequence: Humanities 101, 102, and 201, this course will focus on the evolving concept of humanism from the earliest formulations in ancient Greece to the present. Within the context of a specific discipline such as literature, art, music, philosophy, and religion, or a constellation of humanistic disciplines, this course will introduce students to methods of humanistic inquiry both in theory and practice and explore ethical, economic, educational, and technical considerations related to the conservation, curation, availability, reproduction, and distribution of cultural artifacts.
